witsWellness in the Schools (WITS) inspires healthy eating, environmental awareness and fitness as a way of life for kids in public schools. Through meaningful public/private partnerships with school leadership, teachers, chefs, coaches, parents, and kids, WITS develops and implements programs that provide healthy foods, healthy environments, and opportunities for regular play to help kids learn and grow.

Here are several WITS labs brochures, which you can download at any time.

Alternative Lunch: Every day, the students can enjoy healthy lunch options thanks to the WITS alternative lunch menu. Download this month’s menu!

WITS Labs: Cooking lab with a recipe and tasting. In the lab, the Students are hands on (if they are too young, then it is a demo by Chef with little helpers). Parents help the students with measuring, cutting, peeling, or any other instructions given by the Chef. The parents help clean up between classes and keep the students focused during the lesson. If the parents can help all day it is nice, but even helping with one class is a big help.

WITS Cafe Days: Seasonal tastings. Sometimes they feature a guest Chef (but not always). Cafe Days are held in the cafeteria during all lunch periods. Parents are asked to help put up some decorations or flyers, help give out samples, and help pack up at the end of event. We ask they try to stay as long as they can, but usually the most help is needed at the beginning of the lunch periods.

WHOLE FOODS: Donates all the food and the ingredients for the WITS LABS through June for every grade.

NEWMAN’S OWN: Will be providing AmPark with the hydroponics garden tower (worth over $2,000) along with the portable humidifier, battery, and motor.

GOTHAM GREEN: Will provide us with the seedlings for the hydroponics garden.

Parents: To find out how you can be part of the WITS Committee, Wellness Committee, or Hydroponics Garden Committee, please contact us at amparkpaparents@gmail.com.
