This is a variety show. Of the 24 places in the show, 16 will be made available for singing acts, four places available for dance and physical acts, and four places for musical instrumental, dramatic, and other acts.
Sign up by sending information about what you’d like to perform to email@example.com by Friday, March 10. All received signups will appear on this page on Monday, March 13. If your name does not appear and you did sign up, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Thursday, March 16.
The talent show is very popular and growing bigger every year. The show has places for a total of 24 three-minute acts! The PA wishes it to be a good show for performers and audience – and keeping the show within a reasonable time frame is very important for it to be an entertaining show for the audience and a meaningful theatrical experience for the performers.
If there are more than 24 signups, we will have a lottery for the 24 spots, with the breakdown of singing and other acts as described above . The lottery will be held in the school lobby at 9am on Friday, March 17. At the lottery, we will also select 4 reserves if some performers should pull out. (Remember: there are 16 performing spots for singing acts, 4 for dancing acts, and 4 for instrumental acts and other).
If your act is in the show, you have some things to do that are very important.
All performers need to provide all the materials they wish to use in their act:
- If you sing to a backing track, the audio file of the backing track needs to be emailed to email@example.com by Friday, March 17.
- If you dance, the audio file of the backing track needs to be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday, March 17.
- If you wish the house band to accompany your act, please provide music notation or some other form of instruction by Friday, March 17.
- All materials required for your act need to be emailed to email@example.com by Friday, March 17.
All performers’ files and requirements need to be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday, March 17!
If the PA does not have all materials required for your act in email at email@example.com by Tuesday, March 21, your performing spot will go to one of the reserve performers.
If we have an incredible response and have many performers, the PA might consider two talent shows next year.
This is a variety show, so we want as much variety in the acts as possible – read a poem, sing, dance, act, tell jokes, do unbelievable feats, show us some magic…! It is all about variety!
Very Important – Time Limits! Each act can be 3 minutes long. Please note that each performer should rehearse only a 3-minute act. To make sure that all performers get the best possible performing experience. all acts will be slowly faded down to conclusion once they pass the 3 minute mark. Best rehearse your act to a chorus or verse that ends before or at the 3-minute mark, as 3 minutes is the maximum length of performance.
These are important dates:
- Friday, March 10 – must have emailed your signup to firstname.lastname@example.org to be on the possible performer list.
- Monday, March 13 – check this page for your name on the potential performer list.
- Thursday, March 16 – potential performer list finalized.
- Friday, March 17 – lottery for performing places at 9 am in the school lobby.
- Friday, March 17 – if your act is in the show, all your audio backing tracks and files need to be emailed to the show organizers at email@example.com.
Any questions, please email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
There will be a Talent Show Committee Meeting at 6pm Monday, March 6, for those parents who wish to help.
Special Note: all parents note that all pre-recorded material must be free of expletives and items that our community might find inappropriate.
