Everyone should have received a One by One Pledge form in backpacks by now. Please sign it, and have your child sign it, and return it as soon as possible. If we can decrease absenteeism by 20% during the month of March, the PA stands to make $500. Additionally, if parents who might be new to volunteering sign up to help at school, or at a PA event, the PA can make $20 for every 2 hours worked, up to a total of $500!
The 5th grade had a very successful and delicious movie night fundraiser on Friday night, February 28, showing Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2, with actual meatballs for sale courtesy of Sandra Nachtmann! It was a great turnout and the 5th grade made over $1,000 before expenses, which is amazing. A splendid time was had by children and parents alike.
The Survey helps school leaders understand what key members of the school community say about the learning environment at each school. The information captured by the survey is designed to support a dialogue among all members of the school community about how to make the school a better place to learn. February will be cookbook month! First grade parent Becky Leon is chairing the Recipe Book Committee and will be reaching out to parents during February for recipes and involvement from parents. This will be a beautiful book, published and bound, and a fine addition to any kitchen, especially an AmPark family kitchen. The cookbooks will also make great gifts. And if the delicious dishes AmPark parents whip up for events like Harvest Fest and the 5th Grade International Food Festival are any indication, there will be many mouth-watering recipes. More details coming very soon.
Don’t forget that Roads to Success Horizons after school program sign up is underway. Have you considered the NEW! Tutoring Program or the Craft Your Spanish Program? Ice Skating at Van Cortlandt Park – 3rd Time’s a Charm!
After being frozen out, then rained out, the 2nd and 3rd grades finally broke their bad luck streak of cancelled skating dates and had a fantastic day on the ice last Thursday. The weather was perfect for skating, not too warm, not too cold, the hot chocolate was flowing fast and furious, and the AmPark students were lucky enough to have the rink to themselves. All the parents who showed up to help out can attest to the fact that the kids had a blast zooming and careening and wobbling around on the ice. Thanks to all the parents who made the effort to come out and help. We wouldn’t be able to do it without you. We are hoping that every class will make one more skating trip in February, so stay tuned for news on those dates. Continue reading Many Wonderful Events
Those of us lucky enough to have attended the 5th Grade International Food Festival on Saturday, January 11, were on hand for a very special event, and the AmPark community and the 5th grade families really came together in a special way. Continue reading A Very Special Festival
As we head into 2014, we have fantastic news regarding the 2013 portion of the AmPark Fundraising Appeal-a-thon. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity and giving spirit of the AmPark body, we have so far raised a whopping $7,500 – and counting! This is an amazing achievement, and we would like to congratulate all AmPark families for this outstanding accomplishment!
