AmPark is teaming up with Kingsbridge Heights Community Center to offer 3rd-5th graders a fantastic service-learning opportunity this holiday season! WE NEED CHAPERONES!
On Thursday morning, December 17, the fourth grade and Kelley’s third grade class will sing and present gifts to 100+ preschoolers in KHCC’s Head Start Program. On Monday morning the 21st, the fifth grade and the rest of the third grade will entertain and distribute gifts at KHCC’s W231st annex to another 150 three- and four-year-olds. Some classes will also tour KHCC & learn about social work.
From December 15-18, our school is hosting a Lil’ Shopper’s Shoppe®. Children will have the opportunity to pick out their own inexpensive, high-quality gifts for family and friends. The Lil’ Shopper’s Shoppe is a program designed for children to shop on their own at school, in a safe, non-commercial environment. They can learn to budget their money and spend wisely, while also experiencing the “Joy Of Giving.”
On Friday, December 11, the AmPark Movie Night will feature the movie Minions. Come join Kevin, Bob, and the gang for a mere $5 per family! Doors open at 5:45; movie starts at 6:30. On the menu will be meatballs with sauce, rice, mashed potatoes, empanadas, nachos with all the trimmings and more! Proceeds benefit the Fifth Grade.
Did you know that cultures all around the world celebrate the holidays with Festival of Lights? Just to name a few, there are Kwanzaa, Las Posadas, Lunar New Year, Diwali, Hanukkah, Eid, and Christmas. Tonight, in celebration of the diversity of our community, AmPark kicked off the holiday season with our Annual Festival of Lights and Holiday Sing!
Our Music Teacher, Josh, and our teacher Christina led the sing-alongs performed by our students from first grade through the fifth grade! Everyone had a great time as we all joined together to sing and dance popular and traditional holiday songs both in English and Spanish.
Greetings Parents, Partners, and Administration of AmPark,
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend holiday break. This month just flew by. I can say we are all really enjoying our Tower Garden and its success. So many people are commenting on how great they feel to just visit it. I like standing by it because everyone who passes it just smiles.
AmPark’s Festival of Lights will be held on Thursday, December 3, at 5:30 pm. This popular annual event honors holidays from cultures around the world. We celebrate our community’s diversity and also share our common threads. Join us for performances by AmPark students, lots of sing-alongs, refreshments, and family demonstrations.
